1970s Vintage Green Velvet Coat Lou Ritchie Canada Size M
Brand Poppy's Vintage Clothing
This is a very nice quality 1970s vintage green velvet coat made in Canada by Sport Togs under the “Lou Ritchie” brand name. Lou Ritchie was a Canadian designer, who also designed for the Rainmaster brand. The fabric is of a medium weight and the coat is fully lined in blue satin. This vintage green velvet coat does up with four gold toned buttons within an eight button double breasted configuration. The coat has a high set, fairly wide, lapel, almost military in style. The back of this vintage green velvet coat has a decorative belt at the waist that is accented with two buttons. There is a flapped pocket built into either side. The coat is cut to fall in drapes.
Colour: Rich tone of emerald green - perhaps deeper with more of a bluish cast than shown in the photos.
Label: Lou Ritchie of Montreal Made in Canada. The ILGWU union label was in use from 1968 until 1984, but this coat probably dates to the mid-70s.
Content label: 100% cotton - Lining is 100% acetate. Made in Canada
Sizing: No size is indicated on this vintage green velvet coat, and although it should fit a medium size, please note the following measurements, taken from the exterior, for fit - please take the style of this vintage green velvet coat and the thickness of the fabric into account:
Shoulders: 17” across from shoulder/sleeve seam to shoulder/sleeve seam
Sleeves: 23 1/2” from the shoulder/sleeve seam
Sleeve inseam: 15 1/2”
Length: 43”, measured flat at the back from the neck seam
Condition: This vintage green velvet coat is in very good condition with no pronounced wear, tear or stains - there is some purply discolouration to the lining, mostly down the centre, and some tiny marks to the velvet that should come out with a dry cleaning. Otherwise, this velvet coat looks like it saw little use and was well cared for and stored over the years.
This is a very nice quality vintage green velvet coat - easy to wear, classic 70s style!
