This product is unavailable
This is a very nice quality 1970s vintage black velvet coat made in Canada under the “Lou Ritchie” brand name. Lou Ritchie was a Montreal based Canadian designer, who also designed for the Rainmaster brand. The fabric is of a medium weight cotton velvet and the coat is fully lined in black satin. This vintage black velvet coat does up with three buttons down the front and has wide lapels and an open neck. There is a slash pocket built into either side and loops for a belt, but no belt is present. This vintage black velvet coat is cut to fall in drapes.
Label: Lou Ritchie of Montreal Made in Canada. The ILGWU union label present was in use from 1968 until 1984, but due to the lack of French text on the label, this coat probably dates to the early 1970s.
Sizing: No size is indicated on this vintage black velvet coat, and although this should fit a medium size, please note the following measurements, taken from the exterior, for fit - please take the style of the coat and the thickness of the fabric into account:
Shoulders: 16 1/2” across from shoulder/sleeve seam to shoulder/sleeve seam
Sleeves: 23” from the shoulder/sleeve seam
Sleeve inseam: 16”
Bust: 40” around, meant to hang loosely
Length: 44”, measured flat
Condition: Aside from the missing belt, this vintage black velvet coat is in very good condition with no pronounced wear, tear or stains - it looks like it saw little use and was well cared for and stored over the years.
This is a very nice quality vintage black velvet coat - easy to wear, classic 70s style!
