1940s Ball Gown Strapless Dress Black Taffeta Puff Skirt Ladies Size Medium
Brand Poppy's Vintage Clothing
This is a fabulous strapless ball gown featuring a black velvet bodice and a silk taffeta gathered puff skirt. The top of the bodice is finished in toile netting as is the bottom of the skirt. The skirt is both quilted and gathered in a style that I can best describe as "40s meets 18th century shepherdess style". The skirt is made in two layers of taffeta with one layer being longer and the other, quilted and gathering, acts as an overlay. There is netting inserted at the sides in order to puff up the overlay of the skirt. The dress does up with a metal zipper. The bodice is reinforced with stays and is hand finished. The front bottom of the bodice is decorated with a velvet bow
Label: No label
Fabric: Taffeta and velvet
Sizing: No size is indicated, but the dress should fit a medium size - please rely on the following measurements for fit:
Bust: 34" around
Waist: 26" around
Length: 48" from top of bodice; 8" from top of bodice to waist
It is in very good condition with the exception of a series of four small holes at the back of the skirt (see last close-up photo), the largest measuring 1/4" in width - these are very easily repairable.
This is a really fabulous vintage ball gown....unique style, beautifully made and excellent quality - sure to be noticed!
