This is a excellent quality 1930s era fedora hat made by Huckel of Czechoslovakia. Huckel is a venerable hat maker with a history dating to 1799. The hat belonged to a Czechoslovakian politician prior to WWII. It is made with a wide brim that is upturned at the edge and finished in gray grosgrain. The crown is 5 1/4” tall and is wrapped with a black grosgrain ribbon. Both the lining and sweatband are printed with “Jaques Mayer Bratislava”, the mens hat shop where the hat was purchased. It measures 22 3/4” around the sweatband and 7 3/4” by 6 3/4” across the opening - this corresponds to about a size 7 1/4, which is the size that this gentleman normally wore. It is in very good condition - no creases or wear to the exterior and no pronounced wear or staining to the interior, just some slight darkening at the bottom edge of the sweatband at the front. This is a beautiful quality hat - this must have been a very good hat to be owned by a government minister….
