1930s Vintage Smoking Jacket Woven Metallic Mens Size L

$225.00

Brand Poppy's Vintage Clothing

This is a fabulous vintage smoking jacket or short lounging robe featuring a metallic pattern in gold with touches of red against a black background.  The fabric is quite wonderful and I think dates to the art deco era.  It features deer, parrots and foxes amidst flora and foliate.  I’m unsure of its origin but I think that I’ve seen Persian fabric that looked like this, although it could be of other origin.  This vintage smoking jacket has a shawl collar, and closes and cinches at the waist with a matching sash belt.  It has a chest pocket and patch pocket at either side.  The chest pocket is embroidered with the initials “P.J”.

Age: 1930s, maybe 1940s
