An interesting pair of ladies jodhpur pants from the 30s. These would not have been used for riding, they would have been used for some otheroutdoor leisure activity, hiking or golf perhaps.Made of a twilled cotton in a blue and white striped pattern and do up with a metal size zipper and one large hook and eye.
The 5 buttons down each leg are made of mother of pearl. The pockets are fairly deep and have that touch of art deco in the stitchery design at the top. There is no label but I can say these are extremely well constructed with hand sewn finishing.
These are meant for someone very petite...please note the following measurements.
Waist: 21" Hips: 36" Leg: 12" around at the top of the buttons and 10" around at the bottom of the leg, near the ankle
Leg inseam: 24" Overall Length: 35 1/2"
I have read that Chanel was one of the first woman to wear jodhpur trousers Apparently her inspiration came from seeing those worn by the groom of one of her friend. Women began to wear them in the 20s, as they were no longer only riding horses sidesaddle.
This is a great pair of jodhpur riding style pants, very unique & not easy to find!
