Antique W.H. Grindley Celtic Flow Blue Platter 13” c.1897
This antique oval serving platter was produced by W.H. Grindley & Co. of England in the elegant and highly collectible Celtic flow blue pattern. Dating from the late Victorian to early Edwardian era, the platter features richly blurred cobalt blue decoration with gilt accents and an ornate moulded border characteristic of the period.
The design combines flowing foliate motifs with a textured scale-like rim and softly scalloped outline. A central cobalt medallion anchors the composition, while the flowing blue transfer creates the atmospheric effect prized by collectors of English flow blue china.
The underside bears the W.H. Grindley globe backstamp used during the late 19th and early 20th century.
This set forms part of a large service in the Celtic pattern recently acquired - please check my other listings for any pieces that are still available
