Vintage Hollóháza Wolf Porcelain Figurine Hungary Hand Painted

This is a Hollóháza porcelain wolf figurine made in Hungary. The wolf is depicted standing on a moulded naturalistic base, with its head turned slightly to one side and its tail hanging behind.

The figurine is hand painted in graduated shades of grey, charcoal and brown, with lighter colouring to the face, underside and legs. The coat is modelled with raised areas suggesting the heavier fur around the shoulders, back and hindquarters, while the eyes and facial details are individually painted. The wolf stands on an irregular white porcelain base with subtle grey shading. 

The underside bears the blue Hollóháza factory backstamp with the bird and wreath emblem, reading 1777 / HOLLÓHÁZA / HUNGARY / Handpainted. It is also marked 02, together with a red hand-painted mark. This version of the Hollóháza backstamp was used from 1992 until 2020, however, this example dates to the 1990s as confirmed by the original owner.
