Vintage Beswick Large Stretched Foal Horse Figurine Model 836 First Version 1961–1973 Arthur Gredington
This charming vintage Beswick Large Stretched Foal, Model 836, was designed by the sculptor Arthur Gredington and produced during the first version of the model (1961–1973). Skillfully modelled with parallel with head held high and slightly to the right and tail raised, it captures the elegance, grace and youthful energy that made Beswick's horse studies among the finest ceramic animal figures ever produced.
Finished in the attractive Gloss Brown colourway, the foal features a rich warm brown coat with blended shading, a black mane and tail, dark legs fading into white socks, and a softly shaded pale muzzle. The quality of the hand-painted decoration and glossy glaze gives the figure depth and character.
Like some examples, this foal bears no factory backstamp or impressed mark, but retains what appears to be the original hand-painted decorator's initials on the underside of one hoof, a feature occasionally encountered on Beswick figures where the original paper factory label has long since been lost.

The figurine is in excellent condition with no chips, cracks, repairs, crazing or restoration. The glaze is bright and lustrous, and the hand-painted finish remains beautifully preserved.
