Vintage 1990s Smoking Jacket Saks Fifth Avenue Houndstooth Cotton Velvet XL

This is a 1990s men's smoking jacket sold at Saks Fifth Avenue, made in black and white houndstooth-patterned cotton velvet with contrasting black satin trim. 

The jacket has a black satin shawl collar, matching satin turn-back cuffs and a waist tie. The shoulders have light padding and there is a welt breast pocket and two slanted jetted pockets at the hips.

The outer fabric is 100% cotton velvet in a substantial weight, and the jacket is fully lined in black acetate.

It bears the Saks Fifth Avenue label at the back of the neck and is marked size XL. The manufacturer's identification number, WPL 8535, is registered to Trylon Robe Co. of Brooklyn, New York, a manufacturer of men's robes and loungewear.

Condition

Excellent condition overall. The original belt is missing and has been replaced with a lighter-weight black satin ribbon. The replacement belt is functional and can be worn with the jacket, although it is lighter and less substantial than the original belt would have been - not ideal, but usable. Otherwise, the jacket shows very little evidence of wear.
