Vintage Deutsche Grammophon Promo LP Edith Peinemann Dvořák Violin Concerto Op. 53 & Ravel Tzigane – 1965 German Mono Sample Pressing

$65.00

An original 1965 Deutsche Grammophon promotional mono pressing featuring violinist Edith Peinemann performing Anton Dvořák's Violin Concerto in A Minor, Op. 53 and Maurice Ravel's Tzigane, accompanied by the Czech Philharmonic Orchestra under the direction of Peter Maag.

This desirable "Sample – Not For Sale" promotional copy was issued for review and promotional purposes rather than commercial sale. The original yellow Sample stickers remain affixed to both the front cover and the Side One record label.

The recording was made in cooperation with Supraphon, Prague, and was issued by Deutsche Grammophon under catalogue number LPM 39 120. The rear cover bears the original 11/65 printing date, confirming this as an early first-year German pressing.

Edith Peinemann (1937–2023) was one of Germany's most respected violinists of the post-war era. A prize winner at the International ARD Competition and a protégée of Yehudi Menuhin, she became internationally recognized for her technically brilliant yet lyrical interpretations. Her recording of the Dvořák Violin Concerto remains highly regarded for its warmth, elegance, and musical sensitivity.

Condition

Vinyl: VG+. Clean and glossy. Playback is excellent overall. There are three light ticks audible at the beginning of Side One during the opening of the Dvořák concerto, along with a small amount of light background surface noise during one quiet passage of the Adagio movement. Neither issue detracts significantly from the musical enjoyment, and the remainder of the record plays beautifully.

Cover: VG+ The cover remains attractive with bright colours and retains its original promotional Sample – Not For Sale sticker. There is light corner and edge wear, minor age toning and ring wear to the reverse, a small corner crease, and a handwritten date notation ("31/5/66") on the back. Overall, it presents very well for a nearly sixty-year-old promotional issue.

This scarce early Deutsche Grammophon promotional pressing combines outstanding performances with desirable collector features that make it an excellent addition to any collection of classical LPs or vintage Deutsche Grammophon recordings.
