Vintage Birks Sterling Silver Baby Food Pusher Canadian Nursery Feeding Utensil

Vintage Birks Sterling Silver Baby Food Pusher Canadian Nursery Feeding Utensil

$85.00

This is a vintage Birks Sterling baby food pusher dating to approximately the early to mid-twentieth century (1920-1950). Once a common feature of quality nursery silver sets, this specialized utensil was designed to help parents gently push soft foods such as cereal, mashed vegetables, fruit purées, and custards onto a baby's spoon during feeding.

Beautifully crafted in sterling silver by Henry Birks & Sons, Canada's premier silversmith, the pusher features a broad, smoothly rounded paddle set at a right angle to the handle, allowing food to be gathered efficiently from the sides of a bowl without scratching the surface. The compact size and simple, elegant design reflect the practical yet refined nursery silver produced during the first half of the twentieth century.

Today these specialized feeding utensils are becoming increasingly difficult to find and are highly collectible as examples of vintage nursery silver. They make wonderful additions to collections of Birks sterling, baby feeding antiques, or Canadian silver, and also display beautifully alongside vintage christening gifts and nursery memorabilia.
