Vintage Australian Aboriginal Art Linen Tea Towel Hand Printed Pure Linen Bark Painting Souvenir c.1960s–1970s

Vintage Australian Aboriginal Art Linen Tea Towel Hand Printed Pure Linen Bark Painting Souvenir c.1960s–1970s

$40.00

This vintage Australian souvenir tea towel dates to approximately the late 1960s or early 1970s and features illustrations inspired by traditional Aboriginal Australian art. Printed on pure linen in earthy shades of sage green, ochre, rust brown, black, and white, the design depicts bark paintings, carved ceremonial figures, decorated shields, and a stylized reptile, each identified with printed captions.

Across the centre appears the title "Aboriginal Art," while the lower border is marked "Designed in Australia," "Pure Linen," and "Hand Printed." The original "Pure Linen – Hand Printed Fast Colours" cardboard label is still present, although it has become detached from the tea towel.

During the mid-twentieth century, tea towels such as this were popular Australian travel souvenirs and today are appreciated both as decorative textiles and examples of vintage Australian design. The crisp printing and attractive colour palette make this an excellent candidate for display, framing, or use in a collection of Australian or Indigenous-inspired textiles.
