Vintage 1930s Art Deco Reverse Painted Glass Picture Frame Black Gold 10 x 12
This vintage Art Deco reverse-painted glass picture frame, most likely dating to the 1930s, features an elegant geometric and stylized floral design in black and gold against a warm ivory-coloured background.
The rectangular frame has a distinctive scalloped outer edge, with an undulating pattern that catches the light. The decoration combines bold black geometric outlines with sweeping curved elements and delicate, stylized scrollwork highlighted in textured gold paint.
The design surrounds a rectangular picture opening bordered by fine gold lines, creating an elegant contrast with the cream-toned glass. Four small, functional yet decorative, silver-tone metal rosette screws accent the corners.
The decoration is reverse-painted on the underside of the glass, a technique particularly popular during the Art Deco period, allowing the design to be viewed through the smooth glass surface.
The original backing is covered in textured dark green leatherette paper and fitted with a fold-out easel stand for tabletop display, as well as a metal hanging fitting that allows the frame to be displayed on a wall.
A lovely example of Art Deco decorative design, suitable for displaying a vintage photograph, portrait or other image.
