The stretch construction provided a more adaptable fit while retaining the classic seamed stocking design.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eThe \u003cstrong\u003ePhanto-Sheer Stretch\u003c\/strong\u003e line was being advertised in Canada in 1956. These stockings therefore date to approximately \u003cstrong\u003e1956–1957\u003c\/strong\u003e, during the final years of production at National Hosiery Mills' Phantom hosiery plant in Hamilton, which ceased production in 1957.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eThe stockings come in an original black Phantom box featuring the distinctive woman's face incorporated into the design. The original \u003cstrong\u003espiderweb-printed Phantom Sanitized tissue paper\u003c\/strong\u003e is also present.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eThe box is marked:\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003e\u003cstrong\u003e“Phantom 46\u003cbr\u003eRosebeige\u003cbr\u003eAverage”\u003c\/strong\u003e\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eAlthough the box identifies the colour as \u003cstrong\u003eRosebeige\u003c\/strong\u003e, the stockings themselves appear to be a \u003cstrong\u003emedium brown or taupe-brown\u003c\/strong\u003e, rather than the pinkish beige seen in Phantom's Rosebeige stockings.
