Vintage 1940s / 1950s Paisley Dressing Gown Robe Blue Satin Lounge Coat Housecoat

$110.00

This vintage ladies’ dressing gown features a striking all-over paisley print in tones of turquoise blue, red, pale yellow, olive green and dropped out white. The robe has a graceful wrap-front design with attached waist ties, softly structured shoulders and long, wide fitting sleeves. The tailored cut through the upper body combined with the flowing skirt gives it an elegant silhouette typical of mid-century loungewear.

The fabric has a smooth satin weave with a soft sheen and a slightly textured surface visible in the close-up photographs. It appears most likely to be rayon satin or rayon twill satin rather than silk. The print, weave and construction strongly suggest a late 1940s to early 1950s date. During this period, rayon was widely used for stylish dressing gowns and hostess robes because it provided the luxurious appearance of silk at a more accessible price.
