This is a vintage silk tie featuring a Piero Fornasetti anthropomorphic design consisting of vegetables arranged to form faces, known as Arcimboldesca. Fornasetti (1913-1988) issued his first tie collection in 1980, which only consisted of two designs. In 1990, Intermoda of Como, Italy was licensed to manufacture Fornasetti neckwear. The tie measures 3 7/8” in width and 57” in length. It is woven with a sun motif into the blue background colour - the design is in multiple colours including brown, green, red, orange, white, yellow and black. It is in very good condition with no wear, tear, stains or odours - this is ready to wear. This particular Fornasetti Arcimboldesca design appears to be rare on a tie - one sees plates with Arcimboldesca, but not ties. Wonderful anthropomorphic print - sure to be noticed!
