Vintage Gianni Versace Couture Mens Black Formal Suit Modern Tuxedo Size XL 48

This is a rare men’s formal suit made under the Gianni Versace Couture label.  The suit was made while Gianni was still alive and my guess is that it dates to the late 1980s.  It is made for formal or semi-formal occasions and could be a more modern substitute for the classic tuxedo. The jacket has decorative stitching along the edge of its medium width lapels and decorative stitching along the top of the chest pocket.  There is a flapped pocket at either side and a double vent at the back.  The shoulders of the jacket are padded and the sleeves have four button cuffs.  All buttons are impress marked "Versace".  The jacket is fully lined with a black rayon fabric that has a dotted pattern woven into it (see photos).  It has a two interior pockets.  The pants have a flat front and the legs of the pants are cut full with no cuff.

Label: Gianni Versace Couture.  The Couture label was Versace’s main label that contained high-end apparel, often hand made.  Gianni was dropped to become Versace Couture after his death in 1997.  The pants waistband has “Versace” as well as the Medusa head in white around it.

Fabric:  100% wool.  The fabric is super smooth, one wouldn’t think that it is wool.  Exceptional quality.

Sizing: The size label states Italian size 58, which should correspond to a US size 48 (extra large), but the waist of the pants measures only 36” around - please rely on the following measurements for fit, taken from the exterior (please take the thickness of the fabric and the cut of the garment into consideration as well as the waist size of the pants):

Jacket:

Shoulders: 20” across shoulder/sleeve seam to shoulder/sleeve seam

Sleeves: 28” from shoulder/sleeve seam

Sleeve Inseam: 19” long

Chest: 48” around, taken under the arms

Waist: 44”

Overall length: 35", measured flat

Pants:

Waist:  36” around - there is some material at the back seam so that the pants can be let out a few inches.

Length:  45”, measured flat

Leg Inseam:  33”

Condition:  This suit is in excellent condition - it’s obvious that this suit saw very little, if any, use.  It is very clean and looks great! 

This is a hard to find formal suit from one of the most influential fashion designers of the 1980s and 90s - super quality, timeless design!
