This is a fabulous vintage 70s mens safari shirt used by a CBC (Canadian Broadcasting Corporation) news reporter.  The piece is made in a blue coloured textured heavier weight cotton, almost like a denim, with contrasting orange stitching, the colours used by the CBC at the time.  It has the newly designed CBC logo patch applied to the upper right sleeve.  The logo was designed in 1974 by Burton Kramer and is known as “the gem”.  It features a central “C”, which stands for Canada, exploding out in a kaleidoscopic effect in tones of red, orange and yellow against a blue background, reflecting the explosion of colour that was undergoing on television (yes, colour TV was a fairly new phenomenon).  It is made in typical “safari” style with high set wide pointy lapels, button-down four pocket front, button-down epaulets on the shoulders, defined yoke at the front and back, long sleeves and does up with five buttons at the front.

Age: 1970s

Label: None, but this would have been specially made for the CBC given the specific orange stitch detailing on this shirt.

Sizing: No size is indicated, but it should fit a medium size, probably a size 38-40 - please rely on the following measurements for fit, either comparing them to another jacket that you may own or your body measurements, allowing at least 1” less for fit (3”-4” at the chest):

Shoulders: 18 1/2” across seam-to-seam

Sleeves: 25 1/2” long

Sleeve Inseam: 19 1/2” long

Chest: 40” around, taken under the arms

Waist: 34” around

Overall length: 29”, measured flat

Condition:  It is in excellent condition with no wear, tear, staining or odors, looks like it saw little use and was well stored over the years.

This is a rare piece - I couldn’t find a similar example anywhere.  Wonderful CBC safari shirt from The Anchorman era!
