Vintage Silk Kimono Dressing Gown w Gold Butterflies Size L

$250.00

Brand Poppy's Vintage Clothing

This is a gorgeous vintage silk kimono dressing gown.  This vintage silk kimono was most likely made in Japan during the early 1960s and features lovely metallic gold and white butterflies woven throughout the turquoise toned blue silk background.  This vintage silk kimono is lined in white fabric, probably rayon, and closes with a matching butterfly woven sash belt.  There is also what I believe is a hareri - a white collar worn around the neck that protects the kimono from soiling due to skin contact.

Label: no label.

Sizing:  No size is indicated, but this vintage silk kimono should fit a range of large sizes - please note the following measurements for fit:

Shoulders:  28” across from shoulder seam to shoulder seam; 55” across the top, including the sleeves

Sleeves:  13 1/2” long from shoulder seam with a 17” drop

Bust:  55” around with a normal overlap at the opening, but meant to fit loosely

Waist:  54” around, but meant to be cinched with the matching belt

Length:  55”, measured flat at the back from the neck seam

Condition:  This vintage silk kimono is in very good condition with no wear or tear, but it does have a couple of small light brownish stains on the front right sleeve (see last close-up photo).  Please note that I have not had the piece cleaned, nor did I want to experiment with the stains due to the fineness of the silk, so a professional cleaner might have some success with these - they are fairly minor in any case. Otherwise, the piece is very clean and looks great.

This is a wonderful vintage silk kimono.... pretty butterflies!
