Antique Edwardian White Cotton Petticoat & Chemise Set w Lace Trim Size M / L

$225.00

Brand Poppy's Vintage Clothing

This is a hard to find white cotton petticoat and chemise set dating to the Edwardian era, 1901-1910.  It is rather difficult to find a matching set like this.  Both pieces are trimmed in lace and decorated with a ribbon bow.  The chemise has cap sleeves, a high set V shaped neckline, and is covered in lace at the upper bodice and on the sleeve edges.  It has tuck pleats down the front, which give the chemise its fitted form, and also has drawstrings at the bottom for cinching the waist.  The petticoat has a lovely 12” flounce made of three bands of lace, and two bands of plain cotton.  The bottom of the petticoat has two layers - the base cotton, which has a dust ruffle, and the over flounce.  The piece has an opening at the top back and does up with a drawstring sewn into the waistline of the petticoat.  The waist measures 32” around closed with no gap - the waist could be enlarged to as much as 36”, and cinched to a small waist size.

Sizing: No size is indicated, but this should fit a small to a medium to large size - please rely on the following measurements for fit, noting that the chemise has no closures and simply fits over the head:

Chemise:

Bust:  44”, taken at the armpits

Waist:  36” could be cinched smaller depending on the drawstring adjustment

Length:  18”, measured flat

Petticoat:

Waist:  As mentioned, 32” around closed with no gap - the waist could be enlarged to as much as 36”, and cinched to a small waist size

Hips:  Full - 46”, but meant to fall loosely

Length:  33”, measured flat

Condition:

It is in very clean condition, with no wear, tear, soiling staining or odour.  Perhaps the ribbon could be replaced with something fresher, but I would leave it as is as it is original.

This is a wonderful Edwardian era set….unusual to find together like this and in such an ample size!
