From the 1940s, here's a vintage mens pork pie hat.  This style was popular during the 1940s into the 50s, often associated with jazz tenor saxophonist Lester Young. The hat is made in the form of a flat top fedora with a lower crown and an upturned brim. The hat is decorated with a grosgrain band and bow around the base of the crown. The crown has an indented top. The hat is lined in white satin with a transparent vinyl cover on the top. The size label reads “Custom Made”. The color is a dark charcoal grey, very attractive, it's made of a fur felt.

Label reads - Buckley Styled and Made in Canada on the lining. The sweatband is gold stamped “Lord Buckley Since 1895 Processed for Longer Wear” and with the retailer’s name “Ed Michaud 1245 University Montreal”.

Size: 7 3/8 (large). The label, as mentioned, also reads “Custom Made”, so this would be a better quality hat than an inventoried hat. The opening measures 23” around the sweatband, and 6 7/8” by 8” across.

It's in very good condition with no wear or staining - there is a slight bit of dust accumulation, but really minimal. You can either do a more thorough brushing than I was able to do, or have the hat cleaned.

This is a very nice quality hat in a hard to find pork pie style, a very stylish model
