This is a wonderful late 1930s era wedding dress, possibly early 40s, featuring classic, elegant form.  The dress has a loose cowl neck collar and is made with a high set waist, not empire style, and has a decorative belt across the upper hip.  The back has a V shaped waistline and open “pockets” at either back side.  The fabric is gathered into the seams so that the centre back falls in drapes and has a slight train.  The cuffs are cut to a point and the sleeves are seamed at the elbow to give the sleeve some curvature.  The only closure is a metal zipper at the left side.  The shoulders are padded, which is more in keeping with 1940s style, although the rest of the dress says 1930s - either a forward fashion 1930s dress or a classic fashion 1940s dress.  The fabric is made of off-white rayon satin.

Label: No label - seamstress made

Color: Off-White / Cream White

Material:  Rayon satin

Sizing: No size is indicated, but it should fit an extra small size - this would not fit my mannequin, so I had to pose it on a hanger.  Please rely on the following measurements for fit:

Shoulders:  15 1/2” / Sleeves:  23” to the point of the cuff / Sleeve Inseam:  16” to the lower part of the cuff / Bust: 32” / Waist: 23”-24” / Hips: 32”-33” / Length: 60" at the front at the center and 64” at the back center, including the train

Condition: It is in very good condition with the exception of a couple of very small light yellowish marks to the left front side and a couple of grey marks to the lower back on the side probably due to contact with the floor  - rather minor and should come out with the right cleaning agent.  There are also some small scuffs/picks to the fabric on the skirt and a scratch to the right sleeve forearm.  Otherwise, this dress is demonstrating no other wear, tear, stains or odors and presents itself very well - it has been surprisingly well kept over the many years, obviously treasured.

This is a wonderful 30s/40s era wedding dress - simple, understated elegance….really gorgeous and a beautiful gown if it fits, definitely for the slim figure!
