This is a very nice quality evening kaftan or caftan dress from the 1960s  featuring woven metallic paisley shapes in silver and pink on an aqua blue faille (finely ribbed) silk fabric.  It is made in the traditional form of a Middle Eastern or Northern African caftan, most likely Moroccan, but I’m really not sure of the specific country as I don’t have expertise regarding caftans. But I certainly can say that it is an older example from the materials used and the hand finishing (see last close-up photo).  The caftan is trimmed in silver metallic trim called passementerie.  The front does up with 107 silver metallic ball shaped buttons and loops.  The body of the garment is somewhat fitted and flares slightly to the bottom.  The sleeves are bell shaped with an opening at the side that is closed with four buttons at the shoulder, four at the elbow and four at the cuff.  The piece is fully lined in blue fabric an acetate satin.  The garment is entirely hand sewn from what I’ve been able to discern.

Makers Label: No label. This is hand made using excellent materials - it is obviously a quality piece.
