Vintage 1980s Sonia Rykiel Magenta Crepe Dress w Wraparound Top Size M
Brand Poppy's Vintage Clothing
This is a wonderful 80s era dress by Sonia Rykiel. The dress is constructed with a wraparound bodice that forms a kimono style neckline. Either tie wraps around the waist and hangs as a sash belt down the skirt. The shoulders have large pads in keeping with 80s fashion. It has raglan sleeves with three matching covered buttons at the cuff. The dress is made in a crepe fabric, most likely a rayon crepe. It is in a reddish magenta color - please note that color may appear slightly different than shown on your monitor. The dress is unlined

Sonia Rykiel began designing in 1962 because she was pregnant and couldn’t find a sweater that would fit her properly. She started her business in 1965 and became noticed by Vogue magazine in 1967. She opened her flagship store in Paris in 1968. She passed away recently, on August the 25th. She will be remembered both as the “Queen of Knitwear” and a true fashion innovator.
