Vintage 1960s Blue Sequin Ball Gown Evening Dress - Sz Small

This is a wonderful quality fully sequinned vintage blue ball gown or evening dress.  The dress is made with cap sleeves, covered with ostrich feathers that are dyed in a matching colour.  It has a “‘jewel” neckline, and is cut to be form fitting, with an affixed matching belt that creates the illusion of an empire waistline.  The dress is fully lined in pale teal silk and does up the back with a series of hooks and eyes as well as snaps. Age: 1960s, possibly early 70s

Makers Label: None.  This was made by a very good seamstress.  It came from a wealthy estate.

Sizing:  As mentioned, no size is indicated as it was probably custom made, but please rely on the following measurements for fit:

Shoulders:  12 1/2” across the seam, 16” including the caps of the sleeves

Bust:  34” around

Waist: 29” around

Hips:  36”, around

Length:  53”, measured flat

Condition:  The dress is in very good condition with the exception of some missing sequins on the belt buckle (see last close-up photo) and some soiling to the lining at the neck and center back, due to contact where the closure is and some light underarm staining.  The soiling should clean up with the right methodology and you could either try to treat the stains or cut out the armpit lining and replace it in that area should the staining bother you - please note that the staining is fairly light and small in area.  Otherwise, the dress is clean and is in very wearable condition.

This is a striking 60s period formal dress - exceptional quality, a similar dress to this would cost a small fortune today!
