This is a 1920s flapper era dress featuring a striking art deco floral printed silk chiffon fabric. The dress is sleeveless with a rounded neckline and dropped waist. The neckline is accented with applied light blue bugle beads. The fabric is gathered at the dropped waist, which creates a pleated look down the skirt. The dress comes with a solid sky blue colored chiffon jacket, which matches the bottom of the skirt.

Label: None

Color: Tones of pink, magenta and blue

Material: Silk chiffon

Sizing: There is no size label and although this should fit a small, please rely on the following measurements for fit, keeping in mind that this has to fit over the head as there are no other openings and that this is a fragile fabric, so shouldn't be tight fitting.

Jacket:

Shoulders: 15” across, shoulder seam to shoulder seam

Sleeves: 21” long from shoulder seam

Sleeve inseam: 14 1/2”

Bust: 36”-38” around, depending on gap

Length: 22 1/2”, measured flat

Dress:

Bust: 34”, not meant to fit tightly

Waist: 31” around, meant to be slightly loose, due to straight cut of style.

Hips: 35” around

Overall length: 43”, measured flat

It's in very good condition with the exception of four small defects (see last close-up photo). There is a tiny hole in the jacket at the right side near the opening, probably due to the wearing of a floral pin or brooch. In addition there is a small fray hole at the back left arm opening. There is also a quite light stain at the left shoulder that I haven’t tried to get out - it’s barely noticeable in any case. Finally, there is a bit of discoloration at the armpits of the jacket, quite a small area that could be cut out by a skilled seamstress. There may be the odd thread pull, but this is negligible. Really, this dress has been very well conserved over the years.

This is still a wonderful example of 1920s design - very hard to find printed chiffons of this era that have survived....very pretty!
