This is a gorgeous antique petit point evening bag sewn onto a sterling silver frame. The frame is stamped on the interior with “Made in Austria Sterling”. The needlework on both sides of this antique petit point evening bag features birds of paradise among flora and grapes. The frame is intricately chased - the clasp is set with a rose quartz stone. The interior is lined in silk satin with an elasticized pocket built onto its side. The purse has a carrying chain. It measures 7” by 6 1/2”, exclusive of its chain - the chain measures 7” in height. This antique petit point evening bag is in very good condition - the frame is gold plated, but has taken on a patina. In addition, there are a few small stains to the lining of the purse (see photo) - I have not tried to remove, clean or polish the purse. The exterior may have also taken on a patina, but there are no noted defects.
This is a quality antique petit point evening bag - it would have taken many, many hours of work to complete a needlework of this intricacy. Lovely item, beautiful display piece......
