This is a lovely vintage cotton dressing gown made in a Japanese kimono style. This kimono was made in Japan, most likely during the early 1960s, and features a gorgeous printed floral pattern against a red background colour. The piece is unlined and closes with a matching sash belt.
Label: only a small remnant of the label remains, but the top letters of Made in Japan can be made out. This was made for export to the West and has a kimono design that is modified so that it is easier to use as a dressing gown.
Color: Red, pink, green, blue, dropped out white, yellow and bronze brown
Fabric: Cotton
Sizing: No size is indicated on this kimono, but it should fit a range of medium sizes - please note the following measurements for fit:
Shoulders: 26” across from shoulder seam to shoulder seam - the shoulder drops, so the seam sits on the upper arm
Sleeves: 26” long from mid-neck, 13” from the shoulder sea,
Bust: 50” around with a normal overlap at the opening, but meant to hang loosely
Waist: 52” around, but meant to be cinched with the matching belt
Length: 47”, measured flat at the back from the neck seam
Condition: The dressing gown is in very good condition - looks like it saw little use with no noted wear, tear, soiling or staining.
This is a wonderful kimono style dressing gown.... striking print!
