This is a fabulous rhinestone brooch made by Reinad of New York city.  Reinad was founded in 1922, supplying jewelry for fashion clothing brands and, purportedly, other jewelry brands.  They launched a line under the Reinad name starting in 1941, after producing pieces under the “Chanel Novelty Co” name and being sued for copyright infringement by Chanel.  It has been debated whether Reinad produced jewelry for well known brands such as Boucher, Hattie Carnegie and Eisenberg or simply copied their pieces - this doesn’t really matter as Reinad quality is exceptional, as evidenced by this brooch.  Reinad marked jewelry is very rare and very sought after.  The size, construction and marking on this brooch, as well as the fact that it is non-silver, dates it to 1941-1942.  This brooch is made in the form of a large lily flower, made of gold plated metal and set with pavé rhinestones and emerald green rhinestones.  The piece measures 4 3/8” in height and 2 7/8” - this would make a spectacular lapel decoration.  It has a safety catch pin on the back as well as a loop should you wish to sew it down or even wear it as a pendant - you can see solder on the top back where the loop was applied.  The piece is in very good condition - in the extreme close-up photos you can see some minor metal scratching or wear in places and some discolouration under some of the pavé rhinestones, but this displays very well under normal viewing.  Fabulous addition to a 1940s costume jewelry collection!
