Vintage NOS 1950s 60s Dressing Gown Black Silk Embroidered Lounging Robe Hong Kong M L

$175.00

Brand Poppy's Vintage Clothing

This is a vintage 1960s era, maybe late 1950s, unused, new old stock (NOS) dressing gown/lounging robe featuring a silk embroidered Chinese/Asian design in multiple colours of red, yellow, lilac, purple, light blue, medium blue, white, pink, brown, green and light green against a black silk background with white sleeve cuffs.  The pattern consists of pagodas, Chinese flora and a peasant with a cart.  It is made in a traditional Chinese form with a standing collar, wide cut sleeves in an above the wrist length, a slit at either bottom side and a five red “frog” closure.  The robe is edged in red and lined in white acetate.  This robe came from a Chinese gift shop that was in business from the 1940s through until the late 80s.  Please view my other listings for other pieces.

Labels: There is only a remnant thread at the right chest that held a paper label in place.  I have a couple of other robes like this that still have the paper label.  Those labels read “Dainty Embroidery Trade Mark Real Hand-Work Made in Hong Kong

Material: No label, but obviously silk

Sizing: No size is indicated, and although it should fit a woman that fits a US size medium to large, please rely on the following measurements for fit:

Sleeves: 26” long from the mid-neck (52” across the top from sleeve cuff to sleeve cuff)

Sleeve Inseam: 15” long

Chest: 43, taken under the arms (21 1/2” across pit to pit)

Waist: 43” around

Overall length: 42”, measured flat

Condition:  It is in like-new condition as it was never used and well stored over the years.  I have not steamed it or pressed it for photography, which is why original folds and creases are visible in the photos.

This is a striking dressing gown, rare in this new condition - beautiful quality with detailed embroidery, wonderful piece for lounging!
