This is an old military style Royal Military College coat - unfortunately, the tailor’s label has been inked out, which doesn’t help with identification.  However, in the past, I had a WW2 era Canadian Royal Military College coat that closely resembled this one (see last photo).  I think that this one had its original brass buttons removed - otherwise, it is very similar to the previous Royal Military College coat that I had.  I assume that the style of the Royal Military College coat used didn’t change over the years, so this one may pre-date WW2.  The fabric is very interesting as it has white hair-like flecking throughout and is made in a heavier weight melton type wool.  I can read “C.MR” on the tailor’s label, so that may stand for “Commander”.  This Royal Military College coat is cut to follow the body silhouette, wide at the padded shoulders and tailored at the waist.  It closes at the neck with two hooks and eyes and with four buttons at the right side.  The front of the coat flaps over to button closed, but the two top buttons can be left undone to create two large lapels.  There is a belt at the back that has three buttons.  There is a diagonally flapped pocket at either side.  The interior of this Royal Military College coat is half-lined in a fabric that I’ve normally only seen in older garments, a twill satin, maybe natural rayon.

Sizing: No size is indicated on this Royal Military College coat, but it should fit a small size, probably a US size 36 - please note the following measurements, taken from the exterior, for fit, taking the cut of the coat, especially the waist size, and the thickness of the fabric into account (deduct a few inches to compensate):

Neck:  17” around

Shoulders:  18 1/2” from shoulder seam to shoulder seam

Sleeves: 24 1/2”

Sleeve Inseam:  16 3/4”

Chest: 41” around, taken under the arms - 20 1/2” across pit-to-pit

Waist:  35” around

Hips:  42” around

Length:  46” taken at the back from the neck seam

Condition:  Aside from the missing buttons, this Royal Military College coat is in very good condition - no noted defects, this coat has been very well cared for and stored over the years.  You can see where the buttons were removed on the left side, but this is not at all noticeable and I assume that you would pose other buttons there.  Brass buttons would look great even if they aren’t RMC buttons.

This is a rare Royal Military College coat, very striking with fabulous style - part of Canadian military history!
