Vintage Burberry Trench Coat Burberry’s Prorsum Rain Coat M

This is a wonderful vintage Burberry trench coat made in England under the Burberry Prorsum label and sold at Harrod’s of London.  The classic vintage Burberry trench is considered the ultimate in trench coats.  The coat has most of the details associated with a Burberry trench - raglan sleeves, shoulder epaulettes, rain guard across the back, button-down slant pocket at either side, belts at the cuffs and waist with leather buckles and kick pleat at the back.  The only classic details missing are metal D rings on the waist belt (could be added), front rain guard, and the coat is made with a single row of hidden buttons instead of a double breasted style.  The collar that be worn either tight to the neck with the bridge (see close-up photo) or open.  The coat is lined in the Burberry classic Nova check pattern. 

Age: probably 1970s, maybe 1960s

Color: Beige/tan

Material: 51% Cotton / 49% Polyester shell, 50% Cotton / 50% Polyester lining

Sizing: There is no size written, but it appears to be a size 40/42 long - please rely on the following measurements for fit, taking the thickness of the fabric and the style of the garment into account:

Shoulders:  20” across to the end of either epaulette

Sleeves:  33 1/2” long from the mid neck to the cuff

Sleeve Inseam:  17”

Chest: 46” around, taken under the arms

Waist: 44” around uncinched - meant to be cinched with belt

Hips: 47”

Length: 44 1/2”, measured flat

Condition: It is in very clean condition - the only problem is wear to the leather on the buckles (see close-up photos).  Typically, this is caused by a dry cleaner who doesn’t know to remove the leather before cleaning.  I think that you might be able to get replacements from Burberry, if this bothered you.    There are two very light stains on the back of the coat, difficult to see, no wear, tear or other defect - this coat saw minimal use and was very well stored over the years.- this coat saw minimal use and was very well stored over the years.

This is a classic Burberry trench.....nice vintage piece in clean condition!
