Vintage Blue Crushed Velvet Maxi Coat w Curly Lamb Trim 1960s Elegance Paris S M
Brand Poppy's Vintage Clothing
This is a fabulous late 1960s or very early 70s crushed blue velvet maxi coat, a wonderful example of “hippie chic”. The coat is trimmed along the opening and around the cuffs with white curly lamb fur. It is cut to hug the waist and flare out to the hemline. It closes only with two snaps located just below the neckline and is fully lined in a quality blue satin fabric.
Labels: “Elégance Paris” at the side. At the neck “Pour Vous Madame de Florianne 3420 Drummond Montreal”. Florianne Cardinal was located at that address from 1968 through the 70s - I’m unsure as to whether she was a seamstress or a small retailer, although the presence of the “Elégance Paris” label would lead me to believe that she was a retailer.
Sizing: There is no size label, but this should fit a small to medium size. Please note the following measurements for fit, taking the thickness of the fabric into account - perhaps measuring a similar coat that you own for comparison:
Shoulders: 16 1/2” across
Sleeves: 23” long
Sleeve inseam: 17 1/4”
Bust: 37” around, allow extra room for fit
Waist: 32” around
Hips: 40” around
Length: 53”, measured flat
Condition: The coat lining needs stitching to the seam of one armpit, which I’ll try to have my seamstress do before this sells - otherwise, there is no marking, wear, tear or stains - this appears to have seen little use and was well cared for and stored over the years.
This is a perfect late 60s maxi coat - as mentioned, wonderful hippie chic!
