This is gorgeous - vintage black silk fabric embroidered with red roses and green leaves.  This silk fabric is unused in a bolt that measures 47 3/4” in width and 98” or 2.7 yards in length.  The fabric still has its original hang tag affixed to it, which reads “Loomcraft by Reliable Silk Co. Ltd” - I believe that this was a Montreal based company, now defunct.  This silk fabric was acquired from the liquidation of an old fur business, so obviously had been used to line fur coats - in those days, fur coats were treasured and very expensive, so they would use only the best quality fabric to line them.  Judging by the appearance of the hang tag, I believe that this fabric dates to the 1940s or 50s.  The tag reads that there are 2 yards of silk fabric - I unfurled it and measured out 98” inches, so 2.7 yards is accurate.  The fabric is in unused condition except for a bit of brownish discolouration on the back side only, about 18” up from one end - this was caused by exposure of the side of the bolt during storage and really doesn’t affect the front of the fabric.

This is beautiful quality silk fabric - great if you need to re-line a fur coat, or perhaps could be used to make other items from scarves to pillows or anything that you can think of that doesn’t require more than 2.7 yards….
