This is a wonderful vintage 50s organza dress made of a translucent two toned silk organza.  I posed this 50s organza dress with a blue short slip and a hooped crinoline, so please ignore the hoops showing under the skirt - the crinoline is not included with the dress, but I will include the slip.  You can see how translucent the fabric on this 50s organza dress is from my photos, so you definitely would have to use something underneath.  The fabric is in a combination of blue and magenta/purple - there are patches where the colour is more one than the other (note close-up photo of zipper area).   This 50s organza dress has ruched short sleeves, a peek-a-boo sweetheart neckline, a wide cut skirt that is cut like a circle and closes with a metal zipper at the side.  It is decorated with red velvet and silk flowers at the left front shoulder.  The red velvet ribbon at the waist is my addition - note that it isn’t in the best condition, but I used it to cover the waist seam.  The hat has a wide straw brim with a crown that matches the 50s organza dress, studded with rondelles.

Label: None, but this 50s organza dress was manufactured - it is very well made

Hat label: The label reads “Haute Mode Flore Deschamps 276 Mont Royal E Montreal”.  According to historical sources, during the 1930s that address was attributed to “Salon Flora”, but in 1939, it started to be attributed to Miss Flore Deschamps.

Sizing: No size is indicated on this 50s organza dress but this should fit a size small as there is no “give” to the fabric  - please rely on the following measurements for fit, taking into the style of the dress into account:

Shoulders: 16” across from seam to seam

Sleeves: 7” long

Bust:  36” around, taken under the sleeves

Waist:  27”  around

Hips:  Full 40” around, but meant to fall loosely

Overall length:  43”, measured flat from the top shoulder to the hemline of this 50s organza dress

Supplied slip:

Bust:  36”

Waist:  32”

Hips:  40”

Length:  33 1/2” from the top of the strap to the hemline

Hat:  15 3/4” by 15” across the brim - the crown sits at the back of the head secured by a hat pin, so should fit a range of sizes

Condition:  This 50s organza dress is in very good condition with no pronounced wear, tear, marks, stains or odours.  The brim of the hat is a little warped, but I assume that a milliner could easily correct this.  You might want to find a better belt and you need to find a crinoline, although a crinoline isn’t absolutely necessary.

This is a lovely quality 50s organza dress - pretty colours, ethereal silk organza!
