Vintage 1990s Gianni Versace Signature Medusa Baroque Silk Mens Shirt Size Large
Brand Poppy's Vintage Clothing
This is a vintage Gianni Versace “baroque” silk shirt. The shirt is printed with signature logo Medusa heads and other ornate motifs, all arranged in squares, in tones of yellow goldenrod, bright blue, navy blue, silver grey, green and black. What is an atypical feature of this shirt is “Gianni Versace” printed in block letters in a band at the top of the right cuff (see photos) and Gianni Versace printed along the back of the neck (see photo). I haven’t been able to find any other examples that are printed in this way, but judging from the oversized structure of this shirt, I think that it dates to the late 1980s or early 90s. There are no other labels, but there’s no doubt as to authenticity - the quality of the shirt speaks for itself. It belonged to a gentleman who both had the financial means and social lifestyle to have owned a shirt like this. The shirt does up with a series of snaps that are hidden by a double flap of silk down the front - only the top snap is visible should one wish to wear the shirt with the neck closed. The cuffs close with two cuffs.
Fabric: No label, but 100% silk. Exceptional quality.
Sizing: There is no size label, and although this should fit a large size, please rely on the following measurements for fit, taken from the exterior (please take the cut of the shirt into consideration):
Shoulders: 21” across shoulder/sleeve seam to shoulder/sleeve seam
Sleeves: 26” from shoulder/sleeve seam / 33” from the neck seam
Sleeve Inseam: 22” long
Chest: 48” around, taken under the arms
Overall length: 32", measured flat
Condition: This shirt is in very good condition - it has a dry cleaning ticket affixed to it, so it is clean. There is no wear, tear or staining except for some wear to the Gianni Versace print on the back neck, to be expected for a pre-owned shirt that saw use.
This is a rare shirt from one of the most influential fashion designers of the 1980s and 90s - super quality, iconic design!
