This is a wonderful quality wool and mohair coat made by Weill Paris. Weill is a Parisian institution, founded in 1892 by Albert Weill, and considered to be the oldest French fashion house in existence. The coat features quite a dramatic silhouette, with wide shoulders that extend out to the sleeve caps and a wide profile, in keeping with 1980s design aesthetics. The sleeve caps are gathered in pleats and the sleeves taper to the cuff. The coat has a small shirt-type collar and closes at the front with four large plastic buttons. There is a slit pocket at either side. The coat is lined in black acetate. The exterior is woven in a broad check in colours of purple and blue against black.
Material: 66% wool / 30% mohair / 4% polyamide
Sizing: There is no size label, and although this should fit a large size, please rely on the following measurements for fit (please take the style of the coat and thickness of the fabric into consideration):
Shoulders: 16” across from shoulder/sleeve seam to shoulder/sleeve seam
Sleeves: 26” long from the shoulder seam
Sleeve inseam: 15”
Bust: 44” around, taken under the arms
Waist: 42” around
Overall length: 41", measured flat
Condition: It is in very good condition with no wear, tear, staining or odour - this coat looks to have seen little use and was well cared for over the last 30+ years.
This is an excellent quality coat by a venerable Parisian design house - great 80s look!
