Vintage 1970s Tuxedo Mod Style Mohair Wool Blend 1972 Sz M

This is a wonderful vintage 1970s tuxedo made with a mohair / wool blend with satin silk lapels and trim.  The lapels to this 1970s tuxedo are peaked, high set and quite wide.   The jacket has padded shoulders, a chest pocket, flapped side pockets trimmed in satin, unusual turned cuffs accented with a button, a three button closure and a 13” vent at the centre back bottom.  The pants to this 1970s tuxedo have a flat panel front, a wide satin waistband with six covered buttons and satin striping down the sides of the legs.  The waistband has a double hook closure as well as velcro. The jacket is half lined in a red acetate or viscose fabric

Tailor’s label: Tailored To Measure with the original owner’s name (a doctor) and the date June 8 / 1972 Made in Canada - I obliterated the owner’s name in the photo for privacy sake.

Sizing:  There is no size label on this 1970s tuxedo as it was tailored to measure, and although this should fit a medium size (US size 38), please rely on the following measurements for fit, taken from the outside:

Jacket:

Shoulders:  18” across seam-to-seam

Sleeves:  24 1/2” long from the shoulder seam

Sleeve Inseam:  17”

Chest: 42” around, taken under the arms

Waist: 38” around

Overall length: 31“, measured flat as the back from the neck seam

Pants:

Waist:  38” inside 

Leg inseam:  30” - there is an additional 3” inside the hem should you need a little more length

Length:  41 1/2” down the side stripe (+3” hem)

Condition:  This 1970s tuxedo is in very good condition, with no wear, tear or staining, but it does have two minor issues.  The buttons to this 1970s tuxedo are all silk covered but the right cuff button has been replaced by a plastic button and the bottom two front buttons have a wear striation, very minor, but you could replace the buttons if this bothered you, although I don’t think it necessary.  Also, there is a bit of silk wear to the corner edge of the waistband (see last close-up photo) - a tailor or seamstress should be able to camouflage this adequately.  Otherwise, this 1970s tuxedo looks like it was well cared for over the years.
