Vintage 1970s Indian Gauze Cotton Dress Elephant Print NOS

This is an Indian gauze cotton dress, never used, and one of a lot of old store stock stored in a warehouse for the last 45+ years. This particular Indian gauze cotton dress is block printed in a floral and foliate pattern with elephants around the bodice, camels around the lower skirt and with representations of peacocks around the bottom of the dress. The print is in tones of beige, brown, henna red and black. The fabric was made in India of 100% cotton, woven in a lightweight gauzy construction, great for summer wear.  In fact, this Indian gauze cotton dress is especially light, airy and translucent, even more so than other Indian gauze cotton dresses that I’ve handled.  The dress has a rounded neckline, short sleeves and has a four button closure at the centre bodice.  There is a tie at either side - I’ve posed the dress with the ties done up at the front as well as the back, so you can choose which look you prefer. 

Label: CA-05678 / 100% Cotton Made in India. CA-05678 is the Canadian textile identification number for the Neelam Importex of Toronto - as far as I can tell, this company has been inactive for many years.

Size: No size is indicated on this Indian gauze cotton dress, and although this should fit a medium size, please rely on the following measurements for fit, taking the style of the dress into account:

Shoulders:  16 1/2” across from shoulder seam to shoulder seam

Bust: 44” around

Waist: 41" around, meant to be cinched

Hips: Full

Bodice length:  15”, measured flat from shoulder to waist seam

Length: 36“, measured lying flat

Condition: This Indian gauze cotton dress is in excellent condition as it was never used - ready for use.
