This is a vintage 1970s black wool coat made by the Wilson Bros. Mfg. Co. of Toronto.  This 1970s black wool coat has a wide pointy collar and lapels and is made in a relaxed, knee length, style.  There is a slant pocket at either side and they, the opening edges, the upper bodice and back, and the collar and lapels are detailed with decorative seams.  It closes with two black and gold buttons and a snap at the waist and the waist cinches with a sash belt. This 1970s black wool coat is fully lined in black acetate fabric with a 100% cotton interlining.  This 1970s black wool coat is meant for cool temperatures but not harsh cold.

Label: Couture by Wilson’s.

Content:  Pure Virgin Wool in a gabardine-like finish

Union label:  ILGWU - International Ladies Garment Workers Union used between 1968 and 1984.

Sizing: There is no size label, and although this 1970s black wool coat should fit a small to medium size, please rely on the following measurements for fit (please take the style of the coat and thickness of the fabric into consideration):

Shoulders:  16” across from shoulder/sleeve seam to shoulder/sleeve seam

Sleeves:  22 1/2” long from the shoulder seam - there is an additional 2” of fabric inside the cuff

Sleeve inseam: 16”

Bust: 37” around, taken under the arms

Waist:  30” around

Hips:  40” around, meant to fall loosely

Overall length: 38“, measured flat at the back, taken from the neck seam

Condition: This 1970s black wool coat is in very good condition with no wear, tear, holes, stains or odours, except for some fray to the lining at the right armpit side (see last close-up photo) - otherwise, it looks to have seen little use and was well stored over the years.
