Vintage 1951 Mens Tuxedo Jacket Dinner Jacket Size M L

This is a vintage men’s tuxedo dinner jacket dating to 1951.  The dinner jacket was custom tailored by a Montreal company, the English & Scotch Woolens Co Ltd.  The jacket has grosgrain covered peaked lapels, typical of the period, padded shoulders and a single button closure, part of a two button front.  Each of the cuffs has three buttons.  There is a jetted pocket at either side and a pocket at the left chest.  The dinner jacket is made of black wool.     

Age: The tailor’s label dates it to Oct 5 / 51

Sizing: No size is indicated as this dinner jacket as it was custom tailored, and although this should fit a medium to large size (US size 40-42), please rely on the following measurements for fit, taken from the exterior (either measure a similar jacket that you own, or your body measurements):

Shoulders: 19” across shoulder seam-to-seam

Sleeves:  24” long

Sleeve inseam:  16 1/4” 

Chest: 45” around, taken under the arms

Waist:  43” around

Length: 30“

Condition:  This dinner jacket is in very good condition - no pronounced wear, tear, stains or odors - a small fray to the lining at the centre back, very minor, otherwise, looks like it saw little use, and was well cared for and stored over the years.  

This is a good example of a 1951 tuxedo dinner jacket…….excellent tailoring!
