This is a striking cardigan sweater made in Scotland of excellent quality 100% pure cashmere by Pringle for Henry Morgan of Canada.  Pringle, of course, is a famous knitted goods manufacturer, renowned for their quality cashmere.  Henry Morgan was a high-end Montreal department store, who changed their name to “Morgan’s” in 1957, so this sweater would pre-date that year.  This sweater is made in a cardigan style and has a rounded “jewel” neckline.  The body is knit with an “intarsia” geometric pattern consisting of intersecting L shapes in navy blue and pale grey against a solid red background colour, rather art deco looking.  The buttons are also knit in half-blue and half-grey patterning.  It has above the wrist length sleeves.  The cuffs and bottom are ribbed.  The sweater is unlined and has an eight button closure.  The cashmere is super soft.

Label: “Simpson’s by Pringle of Scotland” - a second label reads “Intarsia by Pringle Inlaid by Hand Made in Scotland 100% Pure Cashmere”.

Sizing: No size is indicated, and although this should fit a medium size, please rely on the following measurements for fit:

Shoulders:  17” across from shoulder/sleeve seam to shoulder/sleeve seam

Sleeves:  19” from the shoulder/sleeve seam

Sleeve inseam:  14”

Bust:  38” around, taken under the arms, unstretched

Bottom:  24”  around, unstretched - stretches out to 36” max

Overall length:  22”, measured flat

Condition:  It is in very good condition with no pronounced wear, tear, pulls, or odour - there is a very light, small mark between the 4th and 5th buttons, but it is really barely noticeable, and with the right cleaner, probably could be removed.

This is a beautiful quality sweater - fabulous intarsia and buttons, not often seen.  Sure to be noticed!
