Brand Poppy's Vintage Clothing

This is a vintage 1940s tuxedo jacket that was custom tailored during the 1940s.  This vintage 1940s tuxedo jacket is extremely well constructed - fitted at the waist and with large pads in the shoulders.  The jacket has wide grosgrain faille covered peaked lapels, typical of the period, and a four button double breasted front with a single button closure.  Each of the cuffs has four buttons.  There is a faux jetted pocket at either side, or maybe the pockets were never opened, and one at the left chest.  This vintage 1940s tuxedo jacket is made of black wool, very nice quality.  It is fully lined in black fabric and there is no back vent.

Age: early 1940s.

Label: Simpson’s The Store For Men.  The particular version of the Simpson’s logo was used from 1935 to 1955.  Simpson’s was a well-known Canadian department store chain

Sizing: No size is indicated, and although this vintage 1940s tuxedo jacket should fit a medium to large size (most likely US size 42), please rely on the following measurements for fit, taken from the exterior (either measure a similar jacket that you own, or your body measurements):

Shoulders: 19” across shoulder seam-to-seam

Sleeves:  25 1/2” long

Sleeve inseam:  18 1/2”

Chest: 46” around, taken under the arms

Waist:  42” around

Length: 32“

Condition:  This vintage 1940s tuxedo jacket is in very good condition - no pronounced wear, tear, stains or odour, looks like it saw little use, and was well cared for and stored over the years.  That being said, a dry cleaning is always beneficial.

This vintage 1940s tuxedo jacket is beautifully made with impressive lapels - you’ll look fantastic in this if it fits your measurements!
