Vintage 1940s Swing Coat Black Wool Ladies Size L

This is a wonderful vintage 1940s swing coat made of twill woven black wool.  This vintage 1940s swing coat has padded shoulders and shoulder tucks.  The coat has a small squared collar that is notched at the back. It does up with a single large black plastic button at the neck and is cut simply with a wide flare to the hemline.  The sleeves are wrist length.  There is a slash pocket built into either side the coat is fully lined in black satin.  The wool is a lighter weight, so this 1940s swing coat is meant for more moderate temperatures, not cold winter temperatures.

Sizing: No size is indicated on this vintage 1940s swing coat and although it should fit a large size, please note the following measurements, taking the thickness of the wool into account:

Shoulders: 18” across shoulder pads (end-to-end)

Sleeves: 22 1/2” from shoulder pad

Sleeve Inseam: 15 1/2”

Bust: 48” around, 24” pit-to-pit

Waist: 54” around, meant to fall loosely in drapes

Hemline:  83” around, laid out straight 

Overall length: 44” measured flat at the back from the neck seam

Condition: This vintage 1940s swing coat is in very good condition with the exception of a pinhead sized hole at the back, 1/8th inch in diameter (see last close-up photo).  Otherwise, the coat presents itself very well with no other pronounced wear, tear, staining, soiling or odour - this coat looks like it saw little use, and was well cared for and stored over the years.
