Vintage 1940s Skirt Suit Purple Wool Size Medium 24” Waist
Brand Poppy's Vintage Clothing
This is a vintage 1940s skirt suit made of purple worsted wool with a fine twill finish. The jacket of this 1940s skirt suit has padded, squared shoulders typical of the 1940s, with a high set collar with lapels, and a seven covered button closure. It has a longer silhouette with an accented waistline. The sleeves are made in a full length with turned cuffs. There are semi-circular pockets, each decorated with a button, at either lower side and there is similar detailing to the pockets at the shoulders. The skirt has a lower-calf length, has box pleats below the waistline, which gives the skirt its form, and does up with a metal zipper and button at the side. The jacket to this 1940s skirt suit is fully lined and the skirt is unlined.

Condition: This 1940s skirt suit is in very good condition with no pronounced wear, tear, stains or odours, but there may be slight fading to the sleeves compared to the body of the jacket, really subtle and shouldn’t bother anyone too much. Coloured garments of this era were not very colourfast because the best dyes came from Germany, and supply was interrupted due to the war. Otherwise, this 1940s skirt suit looks to have been well cared for and stored over the years.
This is a wonderful 1940s skirt suit - attractive colour and flattering style!
