Vintage 1940s Mens Suit Jacket Blue Wool Worsted Size L

$110.00

Brand Poppy's Vintage Clothing

This is a vintage 1940s mens suit jacket, “individually tailored by Union craftsmen” at Towne Hall.  There are no matching pants, but this is the type of jacket that could be worn with lighter coloured pants, a classic 40s fashion statement. This 1940s mens suit jacket is made of quality striped wool worsted in a tone of blue that was popular during the 1940s and 50s, but no longer seen, kind of purplish, but still blue, very rich in tone.  The shoulders of the jacket are heavily padded, consistent with 1940s styling, and the jacket is made with wide peaked elongated lapels that are quite prominent.  It has a four button double breasted front and closes with only one of the buttons, although there is a second button on the interior.  There is a jetted pocket at either side and a pocket at the left chest.  This 1940s mens suit jacket is fully lined in striped blue satin fabric.

Sizing: No size is indicated, and although this 1940s mens suit jacket should fit a size 44, please rely on the following measurements for fit, taken from the exterior (note the sleeve length):

Sleeves: 24” from shoulder seam

Sleeve Inseam: 17” long

Chest: 48” around

Waist: 45” around

Overall length: 31“, measured flat at the back from the neck seam

Condition: This 1940s mens suit jacket is in very good condition - no pronounced wear, tear, soiling or staining, this looks to have seen little use and was well stored over the years, but a dry cleaning would be beneficial.

This is a beautifully made vintage 1940s mens suit jacket, attractive style!
