Vintage 1940s Dressing Gown Satin with Asian Motifs Ladies M

$165.00

Brand Poppy's Vintage Clothing

This is a vintage 1940s dressing gown or lounging robe featuring a woven Asian design in multiple colours of red, yellow, lilac, black, light blue, orange, grey and black against a silver grey satin background.  The pattern consists of pagodas, Chinese flora and peasants with carts.  It has padded shoulders, stitched shawl lapels and cinches with a matching sash belt.  The cuffs are also stitched.  This 1940s dressing gown has a pocket at either side.  It closes with an internal tie and two frog closures as well as with the sash belt.  It is lined in satin fabric.

Age: 1940s, maybe early 50s.  The squared padded shoulders are typical of 1940s fashion.

Label: Only a size label

Material: Rayon satin

Sizing: Size 34 is indicated, so this 1940s dressing gown should fit a woman that fits a US size medium - please rely on the following measurements for fit:

Shoulders: 16” across seam-to-seam

Sleeves: 22 1/2” long from the shoulder seam

Sleeve Inseam: 17” long

Bust: 36, taken under the arms

Waist: 31” around

Overall length: 51”, measured flat at the back from the neck seam

Condition:  This 1940s dressing gown is in very good condition - a very light moisture stain on the upper lining (very minor) that I haven’t tried to remove as well as a spot on the right pocket (see last close-up photo) and another at the lower right opening edge.  Otherwise, clean with no wear, tear or other defect.  Otherwise, this 1940s dressing gown looks to have seen little use.

This is a striking 1940s dressing gown - lovely colour, elegant length, wonderful piece for lounging!
