This is a wonderful hand beaded decorative belt appliqué that dates to the 1920s. It features coral and turquoise coloured beads as well as black bugle beads, gold, cobalt, violet and black beads as well as wool yarn embroidery in turquoise and blue, all applied to a net tulle base. The beaded area measures 21” in length by 4 1/2” in height, exclusive of the tulle netting. It is in very good condition with the exception of ripped netting around the round beaded area on the right side (see last close-up photo) that would just need some reinforcing tulle on the back side. Also, there are two large black beads missing (see last close-up photo for one of them) - again, you could find something to replace the missing beads and patch any missing tulle. There are a couple of other loosened areas. Needs to be reinforced on a stronger backing.
Please note that although this looks otherwise to be in great shape, it is a fragile piece, so needs to be treated carefully.
This is a wonderful 1920s piece of beadwork - beautiful beads, would make a stunning deco headband or a great piece to incorporate into a belt for a dress or creative project.
