Modernist Rafael Alfandary Pendant Necklace Large Chunky Copper & Murano Glass
Brand Poppy's Vintage Clothing
This is a fabulous large piece of modernist jewelry made by Canadian designer Rafael Alfandary. Alfandary started making jewelry during the 1970s and was very popular, selling close to a million pieces by the end of the 70s. His jewelry was worn both by men and women - Liberace, Muhammad Ali, Redd Foxx, Paul Anka, Lorne Green and Margaret Trudeau, even the artist known as Prince.
The pendant is made of hammered copper with a large piece of green Murano glass affixed to its centre. It measures 2 3/4” in diameter, exclusive of the flat dangles hanging from the bottom. The dangles measure 1 5/8” in length. The pendant hangs from a chain consisting of two long pieces, similar to the dangles, and oval links. The chain measures 16” in height, doubled up. The back of the pendant is stamped “Rafael Canada”. The piece is in very good condition with no wear, tear or other defect.
This is a nice large example of Alfandary’s work - sure to be noticed!
